I recently had the chance to do some location scouting in the downtown Nashville area.

The location scouting was for a fashion shoot that would take place around iconic buildings in Nashville, Tennessee.

One of the goals of the photo shoot was to feature Nashville in the backdrop and show the spectacular historical buildings and showcase the culture of Nashville Tennessee.

The fashion designs for the photoshoot were done by Johnathan Kayne a world-renowned fashion designer who resides in Nashville, Tennessee.

As a part of any fashion photoshoot or any type of production you are required to scout the area and document the possible photoshoot locations and architect backgrounds.

The area around the Nashville Tennessee State Capitol offers a wide variety of possibilities for doing movie productions and photo shoots.

As a real estate photographer in the Nashville Tennessee area I have come to appreciate the historical values that are represented in the area.

I hope you are able to enjoy the blog about the downtown Nashville Capital Area and you are able to take many wonderful walks in the historical area.

War Memorial Building Nashville

After World War I, the Tennessee Historical Society, the Nashville Engineering Association, veterans groups begin after the war to assemble plans to build a memorial to the soldiers who lost their lives in the war.

The demonstration additionally included arrangements for remembrance parks to be built by the building and guaranteed that the names of the 3,400 Tennesseans slaughtered in World War.

Nashville War Memorial Statue

"Youth" is the name of the heroic statue which stands in the center of the courtyard.

He is holding a Nike in his open left palm, symbolizing victory in the war.

A statue of a classical warrior, nude except for sandals, a helmet, and a cloth which drapes around his proper left hip and loins. He holds a sword and wreath in his proper right hand. His proper right arm is draped with cloth. He holds a small female figure of Nike in the palm of his proper left hand, which is outstretched. His proper left leg is bent and rests on a part of a ship's hull. The sculpture rests on a simple rectangular granite base with a stepped bottom." - Smithsonian Art Inventory

The monumental bronze statue stands on a granite base inscribed:

MEMORY OF THE  SONS OF TENNESSEE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR, 1914-1918

Belle Kinney Scholz was the sculptor of the statue.

She also built the Confederate Women's Monument at the southwest corner of the building.

To the south end of the large plaza in front of the War Memorial are monuments to the Korean War (built by Russ Faxon in 1992; Faxon also built the Oh Roy statue that sits inside of the Ryman Auditorium) and the Vietnam War Monument (built by Alan LeQuire in 1986; LeQuire also built the Parthenon’s Athena and the Music Circle’s Musica). The military branch of the Tennessee State Museum is on the ground floor of the southern end of the building.

Military Branch Museum

Military Branch Museum

301 6th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37243

Exhibitions explore America’s overseas conflicts, beginning with the Spanish-American War in 1898 and ending with Vietnam War.

Originally built in 1925 to honor those Tennesseans who served in the First World War, the Museum was initially established by the state legislature to house veteran’s souvenirs beginning with the Spanish-American War. It has since grown to include military engagements throughout the twentieth century to more recent conflicts.

Tennessee State Capitol Nashville

The Tennessee State Capitol, located in Nashville, Tennessee, is the seat of government for the U.S. state of Tennessee, serving as home of the Tennessee General Assembly and the location of the governor's office.

National Historic Landmark, the Tennessee State Capitol is on the highest hill to in central Nashville.

Created in the Greek Revival Style.

The architect was William Strickland from Philadelphia, PA.

Built with Tennessee limestone, the building employs the Ionic and Corinthian orders, the two most highly regarded in Greek architecture.

To match the elegance of the exterior, Strickland makes extensive use on the interior of cast iron, an savant grade building material of the 1840s, as seen in the highly decorative spiral staircase and library balconies.

Also on Capitol Hill are various other monuments including the tomb of President and Mrs. James K. Polk, an equestrian statue of President Andrew Jackson by Clark Mills, monuments to Civil War hero Sam Davis and World War I hero Alvin York, and six cedar trees planted to commemorate the six million Jews who died as a result of the Holocaust.
